The ultimate goal would be to:-

• Fly a capsule to the edge of space  (80 to 90km above sea level) using a Rockoon (Rocket Launched from High Altitude Balloon)
• To conduct scientific experiments, measuring certain properties of the atmosphere at this extreme altitude and take photos and video footage
• To track it through-out the whole flight
• To successfully recover it – parachute

This is certainly an ambitious project. There will be many challenges, expected and unexpected. It is clear that to achieve all these goals,  we need more then a carefully managed project. There will need to be some smaller projects in the lead up to this project…each one building upon the previous one. In essence,  I need to provide my own training, to learn the necessary skills and gain the experience required to design/build/test/troubleshoot the systems.  The initial projects will give me an opportunity to share my goals with others, with the hope that a small team can be put together with a purpose of seeing this project through.
