Recently I tried to setup and connect using vnc to my eeebuntu 701sd.

I successfully did so with

xvncviewer -passwd /home/bonz/.vnc/passwd -fullscreen pudgy:0

one reboot later and next connection resulted in

VNC connection failed: Your viewer cannot handle required authentication methods

This error I found to be most unhelpful and was caused by the desktop moving from :0 to :1

Missing eeepctray

I like many others inadvertantly lost this handy item on several installs

The solution to recover it is not to rerun eepctray, but to readd the notification area aplet which displays the output of eeepctray of which I had 7 running when I finally figured out what was missing

That is do the following

right click on the end of the panel

Select add to panel

Choose Notification Area from the menu displayed

Close menu and eeepctray, skype and all the other missing programs should have reappeared
