If you left a thermtically powered refridgeration unit alone in the ocean what would happen?

Would it freeze a section of water around it & sink or would it float like your existing icebergs & continue to grow with each day of sunlight assisting the thermatic process?

Would the freeshly created ice at the base cause the whole thing to capsize & then melt?
